Quadriceps test
For hyperthyroidism.
The patient sits well forward on the
edge of the normal chair and holds the
leg out at a right angle to the body.
Normal persons can hold this position
for at least a minute; those with
hyperthyroidism can maintain it for only a
few seconds.

Queckenstedt’s sign
When the veins
in the neck are compressed on one or
both sides, there is a rapid rise in the
pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid of healthy persons, and this rise quickly
disappears when pressure is taken off
the neck. But when there is a block in
the vertebral canal, the pressure of the
cerebrospinal fluid is little or not at all
affected by this maneuver.
